The Real Reason Renlicon's Disc Golf Ground Mount Sleeve & Riser Were Born

Like many great ideas, the Renlicon Ground Mount Sleeve and Riser were born out of necessity—and a little bit of frustration.

 

Disc golf course designers and players often struggled with damaged or pinched ground sleeves, typically caused by lawnmowers, harsh weather, or general wear and tear. Brian Smith, a lifelong disc golfer and engineer, saw the need for a stronger, more reliable ground sleeve and helped develop the Renlicon Ground Mount Sleeve, built from A500 steel to withstand heavy impacts and environmental conditions.

 

At the same time, the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) introduced raised baskets in tournaments to increase difficulty. Players wanted the same challenge, but DIY solutions were often unstable and unreliable. Brian saw another opportunity—if the Ground Mount Sleeve was built to last, why not apply the same high-strength steel to a Disc Golf Riser? This led to the creation of the only Disc Golf Riser on the market.

How do you store or transport the Ground Mount Sleeve and Riser? 

The portability of the Disc Golf Riser makes it easy to transport between different courses or practice areas. The Ground Mount Sleeve, however, is a permanent fixture designed for secure installation in the ground, meaning it is not meant to be moved. If you plan on relocating baskets, installing multiple sleeves at different locations is a great solution.

How easy is it to install these products? 

To install the Ground Mount Sleeve, you will need to dig a hole with an auger or post-hole digger, add gravel for drainage, insert the sleeve, and secure it with concrete for long-term stability. The Disc Golf Riser, on the other hand, is a simple install. Just insert the Disc Golf Riser into the existing Ground Mount Sleeve and secure it with 2 locks, one to the Sleeve and another to the basket. 

Can I move my basket after installing the Ground Mount Sleeve? 

The Ground Mount Sleeve is a permanent installation, but it allows you to swap out baskets quickly while keeping your course layout flexible. If you anticipate needing different basket placements, installing multiple sleeves at strategic locations will provide you with easy options for alternate pin positions.
